Morning Sickness - Total Misnomer
So the first 12 weeks I am totally trying to keep this whole pregnancy thing on the DL, but damn it’s hard when you just want to barf all the time. I mean how long can you really disguise that? It’d be one thing if it were just in the morning… come to work a little late for a while or something, but really, this was all day and the worst at night.
Fortunately there are a few couches staggered throughout my office building. A little rest on this one in the morning, an afternoon moment of silence on the other and I was able to push myself through the work day without too much suspicion. However, by the metro ride home I was carsick before I even stepped on the train. And don’t even say the word Saltines. There’s some old (and obviously outdated) belief that they are the miracle cure for morning sickness. Those things made my mouth go dry and my stomach heave. No thank you.
Apple Cinnamon Cheerios was the way to go. Trust me, I was still really sick, but I found out the hard way that even when you’re yakking, skipping a meal is not a good idea. So to prevent a completely empty stomach, I grabbed a handful of apple-cinnamon cheerios every few hours (or whenever my bladder woke me in the night). Not a cure, but a help – especially when followed by some minty gum. If anyone out there has found any other tricks - please share! Anything to avoid the fetal position on the bathroom floor again.

My one friend told me for her, the only way to not feel sick was to eat every 2 hours. A banana, some crackers, whatever. If she didn’t she’d get sick.
They do need to rename that though don’t they?
